After Bollywood actor Vidya Balan is now the turn of Veena Malik to get dirty. The actor has signed on Pakistani remake of the South blockbuster, The Dirty Picture, as the female lead, reports the Hindustan Times.

"I do not mind being called as South Vidya Balan," said Malik, who is currently shooting for the film, Supermodel, with actor Ashmit Patel in Fiji and Australia. Producer Venkatappa Malik signed the test the role of Silk Smitha in his film entitled Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga. To be directed by Trishul and starring Akshay Venkatappa son in the lead, the film aims to be a more realistic take on the life of the late actor, says the Times of India.

When asked if the producer acquired the remake rights of Ekta Kapoor, he said, "There is no question of vesting. When The Dirty Picture was made, officials said that the film was not on the Silk Smitha, but we all know it is. Ekta has not obtained the rights to make a film on the silk of the family of the deceased actor. Why should I pay him to make a film on the silk, when you can get a better grip on the subject. I want to make a better film than the dirty picture, "said Venkatappa.

The film, he adds, will be high on the glamor and the producer says he approached Tamil actors Nikitha Thukral, Pooja Gandhi and Charmme for the role. "But they all refused, fearing that the film would be too fat," he said. That's when Malik was approached. "When we talked about it, even before discussing his compensation, Veena asked the script . After reading it, she said she was moved by the climax and immediately agreed to do the film, "says the producer.

Meanwhile, Malik admitted that she was so moved by the strong script she could not say no. "I fell in love with the role. It is a film centered on women and a powerful role to make his debut in South Indian cinema, "said Malik, adding that his next Bollywood films - Daal Mein Kaala Kuch Hai Zindagi 50-50 and 125 km Mumbai - are all female-centered films.
